What is an example of guarding?

An example of guarding is a fixed guard on a table saw. The fixed guard covers the saw blade, preventing workers from accidentally coming into contact with the sharp, rotating blade while allowing the machine to operate safely.

Other examples include:

  • Interlocked gates on robotic work cells.
  • Wire mesh fencing around conveyor systems.
  • Two-hand controls on hydraulic presses.

Each example ensures worker safety by blocking access to hazardous areas or stopping operation when a guard is breached.
